Harriston Cyclists Shine at XCO League #2

Fifteen Harriston cyclists proudly represented the school at the Free State Schools XCO League #2 in Bethlehem, demonstrating determination, resilience, and excellent sportsmanship while taking on a challenging course.

Three Harriston athletes proudly represented the school at the Free State Regional Cross Country Championships in Bethlehem, where Joe Human, Mary West, and Daniel Clark all achieved personal best performances through courage, determination, and perseverance.

Creative Bag-Making in SNE

Our SNE learners showcased their creativity and craftsmanship through a bag-making project, carefully sewing, decorating, and beading their own unique creations while developing fine motor skills, patience, and artistic expression.

Mandela Day 2026

In honour of Mandela Day, learners across all phases of Harriston School embraced the spirit of service, compassion, and community by participating in meaningful initiatives that made a positive difference in the lives of people, animals, and the environment.

ELC Mandela Day 2026

Our ELC Grade R learners visited the Eliza Liddell Old Age Home, where they distributed blankets donated by ELC families. Through this special visit, learners shared warmth, kindness, and companionship, demonstrating the values of compassion, generosity, and community care.

Grades  1 - 3 Mandela Day 2026

Grades 1 - 3

Grade 1–3 learners collected dog food, cat food, and blankets for the Harrismith Animal Shelter. They also learned about responsible pet care from a veterinarian from Platberg Dieregesondheid, reinforcing the importance of kindness towards animals and community involvement.

Grade 4 - 7 Mandela Day 2026

Grade 4 - 7

Grade 4–7 learners collected non-perishable food items and essential groceries, which were donated to the NG Kerk Harrismith Clothing Bank and Emergency Food Pantry. Their generosity and willingness to help those in need reflected the true spirit of Mandela Day.

Grade 8 - 9 Mandela Day 2026

Grade 8 - 9

Grade 8 and 9 learners contributed to a cleaner and healthier community by participating in litter clean-up activities around Harrismith. Their teamwork, responsibility, and commitment to service highlighted the impact of small actions in creating positive change.

Grade 10 - 12 Mandela Day 2026

Grade 10 - 12

Grade 10–12 learners dedicated their time to cleaning up public spaces by collecting litter and improving their surroundings. Their efforts demonstrated civic pride, responsibility, and a commitment to making their community a better place for everyone.

SNE Class Mandela Day 2026

SNE Class

The SNE learners celebrated Mandela Day by creating handmade cards and visiting the residents and staff of Bergview Complex. Through their messages of appreciation and kindness, they brought joy and recognition to those who serve the community daily.

2027 Calendar

The 2027 school calendar is aligned with the ISASA (Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa) calendar. Saturday School dates for Matric learners are provisional and may be adjusted. Confirmed dates will be published once arrangements have been finalised.
