The Harriston Boarding Establishment offers a safe and nurturing environment on the school campus. Boarders develop valuable life skills such as responsibility and independence in a safe and comfortable environment with a choice between weekly or full-time boarding. The Boarding Establishment is open throughout the year except during holidays and half-term breaks.
Pupils are cared for by a House Mother, Boarder Master and an Assistant Matron. Primary school boarders join the aftercare group at school in the afternoons with supervised homework. Structured study sessions for high school boarders are compulsory each day. Staff members are present at each session to assist boarders when necessary. Computers and a printer are available for research and other projects.
Boarders are accommodated in houses with three separate bedrooms, each room housing no more than four pupils. Each house offers a recreational area as well as bathroom facilities. Full balanced meals are provided three times a day in our dining room by in-house staff. Snacks and a drink are provided at break-time and after devotions in the evenings. A comfortable recreation room is provided and is equipped with a TV with internet access and DSTV. Pupils also have access to controlled Wi-Fi on the boarding property.
Full-time boarders who remain at the Boarding Establishment over weekends have opportunity to visit the shops on a Saturday morning and attend church on Sundays. A few structured study sessions over weekends ensure boarders keep up to date with their academics, but they can enjoy time to relax and play in their leisure time. Occasional trips and excursions to local attractions are organised.
Boarding provides pupils an opportunity to grow and develop lifelong friendships in a homely environment with suitable time for participation in board games, sport or leisure time.
